1. What Nala is
Nala is a community reporting platform. It helps residents share issues, support community projects and follow progress as local decision-makers respond. Protecting your privacy is important to us, and this policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
2. Information we collect
When you use Nala we may collect the following information:
- Account information: your name, email address and authentication details when you sign up or sign in with Google or email.
- Reports and submissions: the descriptions, categories and any other details you provide when reporting an issue or supporting an existing one.
- Location information: addresses, street names, coordinates, place identifiers and any location details you attach to a report. You can choose your location manually or share your device's location with your permission.
- Photos: optional images you attach to reports. These follow the same access rules as the report they belong to.
- Usage information: basic details about how you interact with the platform, such as which pages you visit, so we can improve performance and fix issues.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and secure your account.
- Record, display and manage your reports.
- Group similar reports together so communities can see which issues matter most.
- Help community managers and approved representatives respond to residents.
- Keep you informed about progress on reports you have submitted or supported.
- Improve the platform and keep it safe.
4. Who can see your information
Your account information is visible only to you and to Nala administrators who need it to keep the platform running. Reports, locations and photos are shared according to your community's access rules. Typically, residents can see their own submissions, and community managers can see reports for their community. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
5. Location and photos
Locations and photos are only collected when you choose to add them to a report. We ask for your device's location permission only when you tap "Use my location". You can always enter a location manually instead. Photos are stored securely and follow the same access controls as the report they are attached to.
6. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. However, no online service is completely secure, so we encourage you to keep your account details safe and use a strong password or sign-in provider.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep your account information for as long as you have a Nala account. Reports, locations and photos are kept for as long as they are needed for the community to respond to and record the issue. You can request deletion of your account or personal data by contacting your community manager.
8. Your choices
You can review, update or delete your account information through your profile page. You can also choose not to share your device's location and not to attach photos to reports. You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Nala changes. When we do, we will post the latest version here and update the date at the top of the page.
10. Contact us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your information is handled, contact your community manager or reach out through the channels provided in your community invitation.
